Game Technical Art Intern

InternshipRemote / on-site

Bridge art and development across scenes, materials, lighting, VFX, animation, and UI—making visuals serve gameplay and strategic decisions while protecting real-time quality and stability.

What you’ll do

  • 01Implement and optimize scenes, characters, UI, and effects; establish information hierarchy and feedback so players can read the situation and make strategic decisions quickly.
  • 02Turn art requirements into executable technical plans using shaders, material systems, prefabs, asset standards, procedural tools, and automation scripts.
  • 03Contribute to scene and asset performance optimization, quality control, and content-tool development.
  • 04Work with core members from leading AI model and product teams to bring game art, gameplay feedback, and strategic expression into an AI-native data and evaluation platform.

What we’re looking for

  • 01Current undergraduate or graduate student in game development, digital media, animation, computer graphics, visual design, or a related field.
  • 02Experience with at least one real-time 3D engine such as Unity, Unreal, or Three.js.
  • 03Experience with one or more of Blender, Maya, Houdini, Substance 3D, or Figma; able to independently build a runnable 3D scene or effect demo.
  • 04Hands-on experience in at least one of shaders, materials, lighting, VFX, animation, rigging, asset optimization, or real-time rendering; HLSL, GLSL, C#, Python, or JavaScript is preferred.
  • 05Strong judgment of game art direction and an understanding of how visuals support readability, gameplay feedback, and strategic decisions.
  • 06Available at least 4 days per week for 3 months or longer, remotely or on-site.

Bonus points

  • A portfolio in technical art, games, Web3D, XR, real-time rendering, or interactive installations; strategy, simulation, or roguelike work is especially welcome.
  • Experience with Shader Graph, VFX, material systems, scene optimization, procedural generation, or tool development.
  • Experience with asset pipelines, content tools, AI agents, RL environments, or model evaluation; proficiency with Codex, Claude Code, or Kimi.

Terms

At least 4 days per week for 3 months or longer, remote or on-site. Work directly with core members of leading AI model and product teams.
