Game Development Expert (Part-time)

In this part-time, remote role, you’ll design training tasks based on real workflows for developing games with AI, produce expert data, build engine and tool environments that models can operate, and establish quality standards for training feedback and evaluation.

What you’ll do

  1. 01Design training tasks: Create tasks based on real workflows for developing games with AI, including gameplay implementation, scene building, asset integration, interaction debugging, and performance optimization. Define each project’s initial state, requirements and constraints, deliverables, and acceptance criteria, and build task sets spanning a range of difficulty levels.
  2. 02Produce expert data: Complete representative tasks independently, preserving runnable projects, code and asset changes, tool operation logs, and records of the debugging process. Diagnose issues in model outputs, demonstrate corrections, and provide preference feedback to create expert data for model post-training.
  3. 03Build environments and tools: Set up game engine and content creation environments that models can operate. Develop scripts, plugins, and tool interfaces for project loading, scene editing, building and running projects, state capture, and environment resets, ensuring that tasks can be executed and workflows reproduced.
  4. 04Set quality standards and verify deliverables: Establish acceptance criteria covering adherence to requirements, functional correctness, playability, visual quality, and runtime performance. Verify deliverable quality through a combination of automated tests, runtime results, and expert review, and build verification mechanisms for training feedback and evaluation.
  5. 05Analyze model failures and refine data: Analyze model failures in game development, distinguishing between development capability, tool use, and environment issues. Work with the algorithm and data teams to add targeted tasks and feedback data, and track improvements in model performance.

What we look for

  1. 01A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, game development, digital media, or a related field, plus at least 1 year of experience in game development or game toolchain development. Experience contributing to the development and delivery of a complete game project or a complex interactive project is preferred.
  2. 02Proficiency in at least one game engine, such as Unreal Engine or Unity, and the ability to work independently from requirements breakdown through feature implementation, debugging, and acceptance testing. Familiarity with content creation tools such as Blender and with importing and integrating assets such as models, materials, and animations.
  3. 03Proficiency in the programming language used by your chosen engine, such as C++ or C#, and the ability to develop tools and automate workflows with Python or another scripting language. Strong version control and troubleshooting skills.
  4. 04Ability to turn open-ended game development requirements into well-defined tasks with appropriate difficulty and verifiable outcomes, accurately assess the quality of code, scenes, and runtime behavior, and recommend specific, actionable fixes.
  5. 05Willingness to explore new tools, methods, and content formats; patience, attention to detail, and a commitment to refining work to the highest standard. Self-motivation and comfort with remote, goal-oriented collaboration. Availability for a consistent 2–4 days per week for at least 2 consecutive months.

Nice to have

  • Experience with game engine editor extensions, Blender plugins, procedural content generation, asset pipelines, or automated builds and testing.
  • Hands-on experience using coding agents to develop games, or contributing to training data for large AI models, agent tool environments, or evaluation benchmarks.
  • Playable games, engine plugins, open-source projects, or technical work that demonstrates the full development process and key technical decisions.
