SRE Engineer (Cloud Platform & IT Networking)

You’ll maintain production reliability and build and operate the company’s IT network. This role requires hands-on skills in both SRE and IT networking, familiarity with Alibaba Cloud and AWS, and the ability to independently resolve issues across cloud platforms, the service access layer, and corporate networks.

What you’ll do

  1. 01Manage day-to-day operations and reliability for production services. Continually improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, and postmortem processes to improve system availability and performance.
  2. 02Deploy, maintain, and optimize Alibaba Cloud and AWS environments, including compute, storage, cloud networking, permissions, and security configurations; plan capacity and manage costs.
  3. 03Configure and maintain the service access layer, including DNS, load balancing, reverse proxies, API gateways, CDN, WAF, and HTTPS certificates, to ensure reliable access to services.
  4. 04Build and maintain the company’s office network, Wi-Fi, VPN, switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure connectivity, performance, and security.
  5. 05Independently troubleshoot network and service access failures using monitoring, logs, and packet captures, and drive fixes and improvements.
  6. 06Automate operations and improve network topology documentation, configuration records, runbooks, and incident resolution documentation.

What we look for

  1. 01SRE operations experience and hands-on IT networking skills, with the ability to independently handle both areas.
  2. 02Hands-on experience deploying and operating common Alibaba Cloud and AWS services, and familiarity with configuring VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, load balancers, NAT, and VPN.
  3. 03A solid understanding of the fundamentals of DNS, HTTP / HTTPS, TLS, load balancing, and reverse proxies; familiarity with Nginx or OpenResty and knowledge of access-layer technologies such as CDN, WAF, and API gateways.
  4. 04Proficiency with TCP/IP, routing and switching, VLAN, DHCP, NAT, and VPN, with the ability to configure and troubleshoot common network equipment independently.
  5. 05Familiarity with Linux administration and troubleshooting, and the ability to write Shell or Python scripts to improve day-to-day operational efficiency.
  6. 06A structured approach to incident analysis and the ability to diagnose connectivity, latency, packet loss, name resolution, and service access issues, with a strong sense of responsibility, good communication skills, and sound documentation practices.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with AI tools to improve efficiency in day-to-day operations, scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD.
  • Experience with multi-cloud connectivity, hybrid cloud, dedicated network connections, high-availability architectures, or implementing disaster recovery systems.
  • Experience independently resolving complex service or network incidents and conducting postmortems.
